It has been a year and a lot has happened...

We made it!!! 5 days on the road with the good Lord watching over us.

September 15, 2008 we arrived to our new home. Plans in hand and joy in our hearts we began to unfold the rest of our lives.

So many things on our "to-do" list but first we had to relax and get reacquainted with our Mexican street puppy that we fell in love with in April when we were here. Marlene, our dear, dear friend, graciously offered to watch our "Tito" until we returned in the fall and the time had come...he was finally coming home...

Once a starving, flea & tick ridden bag of bones, with the gentlest eyes is now all grown up, and healthy. Marlene will forever be in our hearts for helping us to keep Tito, without her it wouldn't have been possible.

Once Upon a Time...

Gary and I met in 1992 and married in 1993 (why waste time when you know what you want, right?). Gary and I have 4 children, his son Jonathan (who is missing from the photo), and my daughters Danielle, and Kensi and son Kaleb. We also have 3 adorable grandchildren, Natalie 8, Landon 5, and Elliot 4, who we never get to see enough of but that is life or so the saying goes. We are blessed with so many wonderful people in our lives.

Gary retired August 15th, 2008 from Emerson Mfg. as Plant Superintendent, and I retired August 1, 2008 from St. Elizabeth Hospital as a RN. We both enjoyed our work however we all have dreams and ours was to retire and move to a foreign country while we were young enough to enjoy what life has to offer. Amazingly enough we found all our hard work paid off and we were able to retire at the ripe old age of 55.........yes, dreams really do come true!

Why Mexico? We at one time thought we would retire in St.Maarten as we spent 2-3 weeks there for the past 12 years. Then we thought we would like to check out Panama, but it just wasn't what we were looking for. Next trip brought us to Merida, Mexico and within hours we both knew this was the place we had been dreaming of.....it was to be our new home.
Merida is a beautiful city with so much charm. The people are friendly and proud of their heritage. Not the tourist trap of say, Cancun, or Playa Delcarmen, just a wonderful place to explore and visit.
Being country folk at heart Gary and I began looking out of the city for a spot to call HOME. We found "our nest" in between the quaint little fishing villages of Chelem and Chuburna, just minutes from the Port town of Progreso. Life is simple here, the people are good family people who always have a smile on their face.
There has been much to learn about our new surroundings and life-style and we continue to learn something new everyday. We are Happy here and want to share our Joy and Happiness with all of you so if you can't come visit, just log in and I will try to do my best to make you see why we fell in love with not only the place but the people and a different way of life.
